The Ongoing Power of Pentecost

This is Follow Jesus Radio encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: The Ongoing Power of Pentecost.

Pentecost is not just a past event—it is the moment when Christ began to actively apply His saving work to His people through the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38–39 makes this clear:
"Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  This promise belongs to you and your children and to all who are far off—to all whom the Lord our God will call to Himself.’"

This promise still stands today. The same Spirit poured out at Pentecost is given to every true believer. That means salvation is not something we accomplish—it is something God does in us. The Spirit convicts us of sin, leads us to repentance, and gives us faith in Christ.

Pentecost reminds us that Christianity is not external religion—it is internal transformation. If the Spirit truly dwells in you, your life will change. Sin will be confronted. Holiness will grow. And Christ will become more precious to you.

It also reminds us that we are never alone. God Himself lives in every believer, strengthening, guiding, and preserving us to the end.

And finally, Pentecost sends us. The Spirit was given so that we would boldly proclaim the gospel—that Jesus Christ died for sinners and rose again, and that all who repent and trust in Him will be saved.

So the question is simple and serious: Have you received the Holy Spirit through repentance and faith in Christ alone?

That's it for this podcast.Remember, Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
