Faithful to Forgive

This is Follow Jesus Radio encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: Faithful to Forgive.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
— 1 John 1:9 (KJV)

Have you ever made a mistake that left you carrying a heavy cloud of guilt? In our human relationships, when we mess up, we often worry about how the other person will react. Will they hold a grudge? Will their love for us change?

But this beautiful verse reveals the wonderful character of our Heavenly Father.

When we come to God and honestly confess our sins, we aren't met with anger or rejection. Instead, we step directly into His incredible goodness, His mercy, and His loving-kindness.

Notice the two words the Bible uses to describe God here: He is "faithful" and "just."

God is faithful because His promise to forgive never expires. His love is constant, and He is always ready to welcome us back. And He is just because the price for our sins has already been paid in full by Jesus Christ on the cross. Because of Jesus' sacrifice, God doesn't just tolerate us—He completely cleanses us, washing away every smudge of our past and giving us a brand-new, clean slate.

Confession is a daily step of trust. It is running away from our sins and running directly into the warm, waiting arms of a Savior who loves us. Today, let His goodness wash over you and give you a fresh start.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus, thank You for Your incredible loving-kindness and faithfulness. Forgive me of my sins, fill my heart with Your peace, and help me to walk closely in Your ways today. Amen.

That's it for this podcast. Remember, Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
