Matthew 24:37: "As the days of Noah were, so will the coming of the Son of Man be."
Jesus compares His return to the days of Noah.
What were those days like? Ordinary.
People were eating, drinking, marrying, planning their futures. Life moved forward as usual. No alarm bells. No visible countdown.
Then the rain came.
Matthew 24:39: "‘and they didn’t know until the flood came and took them all away, so will the coming of the Son of Man be."
“They didn’t know until the flood came.”
Not because there was no warning—Noah preached righteousness—but because they ignored God’s Word.
Jesus says His coming will be the same.
Life may look completely normal today. You may finish your workday. Eat dinner. Make plans for next week.
And yet—this could be the day.
The Son of Man will return bodily, visibly, and in glory. He will gather His elect (Matthew 24:31). Those who have faith in Jesus will rejoice.
But sudden destruction will fall on the unrepentant.
Normal routines do not equal spiritual safety.
The question is not, “Does today feel significant?”
The question is, “Are you ready?”
Readiness means repentance. Turning from sin. Trusting entirely in Christ—His perfect obedience, His atoning death, His victorious resurrection.
In Noah’s day, the ark had one door. When it shut, it shut.
Christ is the Door now.
Do not assume you have tomorrow.
An ordinary day is coming—
when the sky will split—
and the King will appear.
Be found in Him.
