This is Follow Jesus Radio, encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow Him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: Daily Warfare.
"No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier."
Every morning we wake up to a battlefield. Whether we recognize it or not, there is a daily war being fought for our hearts, our minds, and our devotion to Jesus. The enemy would love nothing more than to distract us with the cares of this life until we lose sight of the One we belong to.
The affairs of this world are not always sinful. Often it is the legitimate things—work, finances, schedules, hobbies, and even good responsibilities—that slowly become the things that consume us. Before long, we find ourselves busy with everything except the One who enlisted us.
Paul reminds us that we are soldiers of Jesus. A soldier lives with purpose. Their highest desire is not personal comfort but faithfulness to their commander. As followers of Jesus, our greatest question each day should not be, "What will make me happy?" but, "Lord, what will please You today?"
Take a moment to ask yourself: What am I fighting for? Am I investing my energy in things that will pass away, or am I living for what will last forever? Every decision, every conversation, every opportunity is part of the battle.
The good news is that we do not fight alone. The Captain of our salvation goes before us, strengthens us when we are weary, and supplies everything we need to stand firm. Stay close to Him. Keep your eyes on Him. Live each day with the single desire to please the One who called you by His grace.
Prayer:
Lord, keep my heart from becoming entangled with the things that pull me away from You. Help me to live as a faithful soldier, focused on Your will and strengthened by Your grace. May my life bring You pleasure and glory in every battle I face today. Amen.
That's it for this podcast. Remember, Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
