False Teachers

This is Follow Jesus Radio encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: False Teachers.

"But false prophets also arose among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction."
— 2 Peter 2:1

Have you ever wondered how banks train their tellers to spot counterfeit money? They don’t have them study hundreds of fake bills. Instead, they have them spend hours touching, looking at, and studying the genuine currency. Because they know the real thing so perfectly, a counterfeit bill immediately feels wrong the moment it touches their hands.

Spiritual truth works the exact same way.

Peter warns us that false teachers won't always stand up and loudly announce their errors. Instead, they "secretly bring in" destructive ideas. They might use Christian language, appear highly successful, or sound incredibly encouraging. But slowly they shift the focus away from simple and pure devotion to Jesus.

So, how do we protect our hearts and minds from being misled?

The answer is simple, yet incredibly powerful: by placing our faith in Jesus Christ alone, and following His teachings alone.

When you spend time daily in the Gospels, saturating your heart in the actual words of Jesus, you are studying the genuine truth. You get to know His voice. When we anchor ourselves strictly to His commands of love, humility, repentance, and total dependence on His sacrifice, the counterfeits lose their power. The moment a false teaching crosses your path, your spiritual instincts will go on alert because it simply doesn't sound like the Master.

Today, let's commit to staying close to the real thing. Keep your eyes on Jesus, trust in His finished work, and let His Word be your ultimate filter for everything you hear.

That's it for this podcast. Remember, Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
