Trusting Your Work to the Lord

This is Follow Jesus Radio encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: Trusting Your Work to the Lord.

Proverbs 16:3 (BSB) "Commit your works to the LORD and your plans will be achieved."

We all have plans. We have plans for our families, our careers, and our personal growth. But so often, those plans feel like a heavy weight on our shoulders. We worry about the outcome, we stress over the details, and we wonder if we have enough strength to make it all happen.

In Proverbs 16:3, we are given a different way to live. The word "commit" in the original Hebrew language literally means to "roll." Think of a traveler carrying a heavy boulder on their back; to commit that burden means to roll it off their own shoulders and onto someone else. God is inviting you today to roll the weight of your work, your worries, and your future onto Him.

When we commit our works to the Lord, it doesn't mean we stop working. It means we stop worrying about the result because we have placed the outcome in His capable hands. As followers of Jesus, we have a unique confidence. We know that our Father is sovereign, and He is for us. When we align our efforts with His will, He promises to establish our thoughts and achieve our plans in a way that brings Him glory and us good.

Confidence doesn't come from knowing exactly how things will turn out. True confidence comes from knowing Who is in control of the turning. When you trust your work to the Lord, you are saying, "Father, I will do my best, but I trust You with the rest." This shift in perspective changes everything. It turns our stress into peace and our striving into service.

Today, whatever project is on your desk or whatever dream is in your heart, roll it over to Him. Trust that the One who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it.

Let us pray. Lord, we roll our burdens and our plans onto Your shoulders today. Forgive us for trying to carry the weight of the future on our own. Give us the confidence to work heartily as unto You, trusting that You are the one who establishes our steps. In Jesus' name, Amen.
