“Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done.”
In the final chapter of the Bible, Jesus leaves us with a stirring wake-up call and a beautiful promise. In the midst of our daily grind—where work can often feel thankless or exhausting—these words offer a perspective shift that changes everything.
We often measure our success by immediate results: a paycheck, a "thank you," or a visible change in circumstances. However, Jesus reminds us that He is the ultimate Witness. Whether you are serving in a high-profile ministry or quietly helping a neighbor when no one is watching, nothing is missed. Your work for the Lord is never wasted; it is being recorded in the ledger of heaven.
The verse says He will give to each one according to what they have done. This is an intimate promise. God doesn't just hand out a "group reward." He knows your specific sacrifices, your private prayers, and the unique way you have used your talents for His Kingdom. There is a personal crown and a personal "well done" waiting for you.
While "rewards" are promised, the greatest treasure of all isn't a crown or a mansion—it is the Giver Himself. The reward is "with Him." When He arrives, the greatest joy of the believer will be the moment our faith becomes sight. To look into the eyes of the One who died for us and hear His voice is the prize that makes every earthly struggle pale in comparison.
Let's pray. Lord Jesus, thank You for the promise that You are coming soon. Help me to live today with eternity in view. Strengthen my hands when I feel weary, and remind me that my service to You is never in vain. More than any crown, I long to see Your face. Amen.
