In Christ Jesus
1 Corinthians 1:30–31 ESV
“And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, ‘Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.’”
As I was reflecting on this today, these words caught my attention: “And because of him you are in Christ Jesus...”
It is because of our Heavenly Father that we are in Christ Jesus.
Jesus says in John 6:44:
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.”
And again in John 6:65:
“And he said, ‘This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.’”
What a gift so wonderful and so free—the gift of Jesus in our hearts!
And this gift gives us rest as we walk away from all our self-efforts to gain acceptance with God and trust in the sacrifice of Jesus as the only sacrifice God accepts to make us right with Him.
Hebrews 4:9–10 guarantees us:
“So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.”
I hope these truths will be a blessing to you today as you purpose in your heart to follow your Savior, Jesus Christ.
Let's pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for drawing us to Jesus and giving us the wonderful gift of salvation in Him. Help us to rest in Jesus and trust completely in His finished work, rather than our own efforts. Help us keep our eyes on Jesus and follow Him each day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
