This is Follow Jesus Radio, encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow Him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: Jesus Teaches About Hell.
When we read the Gospels, we quickly discover that Jesus did not shy away from speaking the truth about hell. He spoke about it because He loves us and wants us to understand the absolute gravity of eternity.
Let's listen to His warning in the Gospel of Luke:
"And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him."
— Luke 12:4-5 (KJV)
And in the Gospel of John, Jesus states:
"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."
— John 3:36 (KJV)
These are incredibly sobering words. In our human nature, we can easily find ourselves worrying about the opinions, the anger, or the threats of other people who can only harm us temporarily. But Jesus reminds us that our true, reverent fear belongs to God alone—the One who holds ultimate authority over both our bodies and our eternal souls. If we stood on our own record, we know that every single one of us would deserve to face that wrath because of our sins.
But praise God that we do not have to live in fear of condemnation! For those of us who have placed our faith in Jesus Christ alone, we have been given an absolute, unshakable security.
So, how do we escape the reality of hell and find this perfect peace? The Bible reveals that it is not through our own good deeds, our religious performance, or our self-effort. It is entirely a free gift of grace.
Let's choose to walk in the quiet confidence of that victory today, and let's share the good news of this great salvation with a world that desperately needs His grace.
That's it for this podcast. Remember, Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
