"Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the LORD, and he answered them."
— Psalm 99:6 (KJV)
I was thinking today about those of us who have the faith of Jesus, and our connection to other people in the Bible who walked with God. It is truly an encouraging thing to realize.
In this psalm, we are reminded of some of the most faithful leaders in biblical history—Moses, Aaron, and Samuel. These were men who walked closely with God, faced monumental challenges, and spent their lives seeking His will. The Bible highlights their defining habit: they called upon the Lord, and He answered them.
The encouraging truth for us today is that when we place our faith in Jesus Christ, we step directly into that same family of believers. We are walking in incredibly good company! We serve the exact same God who listened to Moses, guided Aaron, and spoke to Samuel.
But because of the New Testament, our connection to God is closer than they could have ever dreamed. Through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, we don't need a priest to go to God for us. We have direct access. Through Jesus, we have complete acceptance, perfect forgiveness, and His constant, living presence with us throughout every single detail of our busy days.
We don't have to face our trials, our work, or our family responsibilities alone. The same God who answered the prayers of the saints of old is listening to us right now. Let's step out into our day with quiet confidence, knowing we are walking in the very best company.
That's it for this podcast. Remember, Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
