This is Follow Jesus Radio encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: Finding True Life.
"For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it."
— Matthew 16:25 (BSB)
Every single day, we are bombarded with messages about self-preservation, self-care, and looking out for number one. But in this scripture, Jesus steps in and completely turns our natural instincts upside down. He directly confronts the lie that holding tightly to our own lives is the path to fulfillment.
As human beings, we naturally crave control. We want comfort, we want a good reputation, and we want to call our own shots. But Jesus doesn't offer to simply improve our self-rule; He calls us to lay down our self-rule entirely and surrender to Him as Lord.
This powerful verse sits right in the context of taking up our cross and following Him daily. To "lose your life" for His sake means denying yourself. It means choosing His truth over our selfish ambitions, choosing His grace over our anger, and choosing His Word over our own plans.
When we try to secure our lives on the world's terms, we find ourselves spiritually exhausted, holding onto empty sand. But when we yield everything to Christ, we receive what the world can never buy: deep peace, absolute security, and our soul's true eternal purpose.
Today, let's stop asking: "How can Jesus fit into my busy plans?" Instead, let's ask: "How can my life be fully given to Him today?" That is where real, abundant life begins. Jesus is not an optional add-on; He is worth absolutely everything.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus, help me to let go of my desire for control today. I surrender my plans, my worries, and my ambitions to You. Teach me what it means to daily deny myself, take up my cross, and find true, everlasting life in You alone. Amen.
That's it for this podcast. Remember, Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
