Colossians 1:12 (BSB) "giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light."
Have you ever felt like you weren't "enough"? In our careers, our families, and even our spiritual lives, there is often a nagging voice telling us that we haven't done enough, worked hard enough, or been good enough to deserve the best life has to offer. When it comes to the Kingdom of God, many of us carry that same weight, wondering if we are truly "fit" to stand in His presence.
But the Apostle Paul gives us incredible news in Colossians. He tells us to give thanks because it is the Father who has qualified you.
To be "qualified" means to be made fit or competent for a specific task or position. In the natural world, you qualify for a job through experience or a race through training. But in the Kingdom of Heaven, the qualification is a gift. You didn't qualify yourself; God did. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Father has looked at you and declared you fit to share in the inheritance of the saints. To receive this gift one needs to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Think about that for a moment. You don't have to spend your life auditioning for God's love. Because you follow Jesus, the heavy lifting is already done. You have been brought out of the shadows of "trying to be good enough" and into the glorious light of God’s family.
Following Jesus is not a desperate attempt to get qualified; it is a joyful response to being qualified. When you wake up each day, you can walk with confidence—not in your own perfection, but in the perfect work of Christ. He has made you fit for His kingdom, and He is the one who will sustain you until you reach your final inheritance.
Today, let your heart be light. You are chosen, you are accepted, and through Jesus, you are fully qualified.
Let us pray. Father, we thank You that our place in Your kingdom doesn't depend on our performance, but on Your grace. Thank You for qualifying us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us to live today with the peace and confidence that comes from being Yours. In Jesus' name, Amen.
