Christian - forgiven - grateful

Welcome! My name is Richard Templin Hancock and I am a senior citizen who has found great peace in his old age in the forgiveness that Jesus Christ offers to sinners. I enjoy reading my Bible and recording short Devotional podcasts with the aim to encourage us all to have faith in God and follow His Son Jesus Christ every day.
I hope the following blog posts will be an encouragement to you:

Anchored In The Truth

Anchored in the Truth.

"And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers." — Acts 2:42

In the early days of the church, the first believers faced a world of immense pressure and competing ideas. Their secret to standing firm wasn’t a new strategy; it was steadfastness. They didn’t just listen to the apostles’ teaching once—they lived in it.

To be "steadfast" means to be stubbornly loyal and fixed in place. For us today, staying faithful means tethering our lives to the New Testament—the preserved record of Christ’s words and the Apostles’ instructions. When the world offers "new truths," we return to the original truth. When we feel isolated, we return to fellowship. When we feel self-sufficient, we return to prayer.

Faithfulness isn't about a one-time decision; it’s about the daily rhythm of abiding in what has already been revealed. By holding fast to the teachings of the New Testament, we ensure our lives are built on the Rock that never shifts.

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Word. Give me the strength to remain steadfast and loyal to the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles. Let my life be a reflection of Your unchanging truth. Amen.
