Jeremiah 23:29-32
Is not my word like as a fire?” saith the LORD; “and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets,” saith the LORD, “that steal my words every one from his neighbour. Behold, I am against the prophets,” saith the LORD, “that use their tongues, and say, ‘He saith.’ Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams,” saith the LORD, “and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all,” saith the LORD.
How do we avoid the false prophets and their false teachings? Look to Jesus!
Hebrews 1:1-2
God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds.
Jesus said in Matthew 7:15-16, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?”
On the mountain where Jesus was transfigured (Matthew 17:5), it is written: “While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. Behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ‘This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.’”
Jesus said in John 15:15, “No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.”
