Psalm 61:1-3 NLT
O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer!
Do you find yourself at that point where you desperately need help? Are you sinking under the weight of temptation, illness, or stress? Have you become in bondage to a sin that haunts you? Then the psalmist gives us a great example of what to do: "From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me."
I don't know about you, but I need that "towering rock of safety." And for me, that "towering rock of safety" is Jesus! Father God gave me Jesus to take the punishment for my sins. And God gave me Jesus to put my faith in and follow daily. And God gave me Jesus as the Rock to flee to.
Remember what Hebrews 4:14-16 says? "So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most."
Let's make it our aim this very hour to seek our Rock. Our Jesus. Our Great High Priest.
