Hold firmly to Jesus and His message

Hold firmly to Jesus and His message
By Richard Templin Hancock

Revelation 2:13 “I know your works and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. You hold firmly to my name, and didn’t deny my faith in the days of Antipas my witness, my faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.

What caught my eye on this passage is "You hold firmly to my name and did not deny my faith".
That is what I want to do today. How about you? Holding firm to Jesus and His faith. There are lots of faiths out there. But I am aiming for the faith of Christ. The faith that he teaches about in the New Testament.

For example, Jesus says in John 10:9: "I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out, and will find pasture." We can only have true faith if we come to our Heavenly Father through the only sacrifice He will accept that will make us right with Him. As it says in Isaiah 53:5, "But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed." Any self-effort for salvation or faith in any religious organization is futile. Jesus is our only hope.

We are also reminded of the words of Jesus in John 10:27, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." The Holy Spirit has revealed to us to avoid other teachings. Brother John speaks of the false prophets who depart from the teachings of Jesus in First John 2:19, "They went out from us, but they didn’t belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have continued with us. But they left, that it might be revealed that none of them belong to us."

I thought this would be a good reminder for you and me this hour to stay sharp and stay rooted in Jesus.

That's it for this podcast. Follow Jesus Radio is here 24 hours a day to encourage you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow Him daily.   Remember Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
